I've been going there for years. You have to pay to get in (they charge by car not per person). There are shelters, camping sites, a lake, and boat rentals. The lake is man-made. A few years ago, they built toilet and shower facilities, so you don't have to use an outhouse and waterpump.
Policy changes for 2017 to my dislike. Just returned from camping 25 Sep. No more than one vehicle per camp site is B.S. Hard for handicap to walk 500 to 1000 yards to camp site. One night overflow parking lot was full, no where to park. Camp gate attendant very rude, and DNR hired personnel also very rude. Bathrooms dirty, dead cockroachs in shower, enough to ruin my weekend. Don't think I will be staying at Lincoln again. DNR needs to train their people.
This is a super family friendly campground with lots to do and see and beautiful views all around. It is much better and more fairly priced than the one closer to the park and you avoid most of the party campers that way too. Easy drive to the theme park but you should stay and enjoy the lake! They have great sites for rvs and campers and lots of shady grassy spots for tents as well. They also have several handicapped spots that are very roomy with paved accesses. Nice bathhouse and playgrounds and many easy trails around the lake for hiking.
This campground has a lot to do: hiking, fishing, swimming, paddle boat, canoes, cabins. Great views.
Lots of nature to explore here, tent campsite was good. Kids liked it too.
